IT Skeptic Version 3 Refresh

in

Yes everything you have heard all over the web these past few months is true! The IT Skeptic is having a Version 3 Refresh today.

We have moved - the IT Skeptic's third home, so this is Version 3, really! - to a new VPS on the same box with an all-new new look, and new versions Apache, MySQL and PHP.

I pondered introducing an x-rays-of-nature theme but decided that was too cheeky, so I have just cleaned up the existing theme instead.

Hopefully there won't be any glitches but if you find any please notify me at webmaster -at- itskeptic 'dot' org.

I wouldn't want to spoil the big day.

What? You were expecting something particularly juicy and ugly for today? I wouldn't want to spoil the big day.

Actually today is something of a non-event. The NDA gags come off, so people will be spilling the beans on blogs and forums. The REAL launch is a week away in London. And the books won't magically appear in a stocking on the foot of your bed overnight. I won't get excited until I get hold of the rest of the books , which is a week or two away yet. (Yes I have some: security is never perfect).

How is the day for you?

Shortcomings...

Hey Skeptic,

Three things:
1. All of the user information with the posts has disappeared with this version of the blog. Not good! ;-)
2. Wanted to post to your announcement, but I couldn't log in. I tried to get a password refresh (thinking I just forgot the PW I originally used) and then the mail I got wasn't helpful. See below.
3. My mail on this to your webdude account bounced with a user unknown.

Better luck next release...

Thanks and stay skeptical,
kengon

Subject: Replacement login information for %username at %site

%username,

A request to reset the password for your account has been made at %site.

You may now log in to %uri_brief clicking on this link or copying and pasting it in your browser:

%login_url

This is a one-time login, so it can be used only once. It expires after one day and nothing will happen if it's not used.

After logging in, you will be redirected to %edit_uri so you can change your password.
