IBM just can't get over the fact they dropped the ball on ITIL, can they? Here is yet another claim that stretches the truth to the point of distortion:

IBM is a founding member of the ITIL research committee and still actively involved in the support and creation of new library materials including ITIL, Version 3.

Just when I say that all the hype is in CMDB and that ITIL in general is ticking along fairly soberly, along comes someone to prove me wrong. Two people actually: someone hyping their own significance; and what passes for a journalist on the web these days uncritically lapping it up.

Is it just me or does anyone else think it is a bit rich IBM lecturing ITIL vendors?

After all, this is the company with such a firm grasp of ITIL strategic issues that they sold their service desk product to Peregrine, abandoned to an inevitable brutal death. That's a bit like GM getting out of making engines and then telling other auto makers what they need to make cars.
