CODE RED EXTREME Crap factoid Alert "ITIL as a service" from IBM and Sunview

ImageBig and small they are all at it. Be extremely alert, this is a CODE RED EXTREME warning from Chokey the Chimp's Crap Factoid Early Warning Service.

Sunview Software claims to have pulled off the remarkable feat of delivering organisational change over TCP/IP. Better still IBM claims to get an ITIL process running in 2.5 minutes. Both are claiming ITIL as a Service. Chokey the Chimp says "crap".

IBM draws that long ITIL bow again

IBM just can't get over the fact they dropped the ball on ITIL, can they? Here is yet another claim that stretches the truth to the point of distortion:

IBM is a founding member of the ITIL research committee and still actively involved in the support and creation of new library materials including ITIL, Version 3.

IBM wrote ITIL. In fact Alasdair Meldrum did

Just when I say that all the hype is in CMDB and that ITIL in general is ticking along fairly soberly, along comes someone to prove me wrong. Two people actually: someone hyping their own significance; and what passes for a journalist on the web these days uncritically lapping it up.

IBM: the company with such a firm grasp of ITIL strategic issues that they sold their service desk

Is it just me or does anyone else think it is a bit rich IBM lecturing ITIL vendors?

After all, this is the company with such a firm grasp of ITIL strategic issues that they sold their service desk product to Peregrine, abandoned to an inevitable brutal death. That's a bit like GM getting out of making engines and then telling other auto makers what they need to make cars.
